Springtime: AC Tune-Up Checklist

Springtime: AC Tune-Up Checklist

It’s spring already, and before you know it, it will be summer. Air conditioners tend to show faults in their peak season of summer because the systems have to work at their maximum capacity. Whether you’ve been busy the whole year, scheduling a tune-up before the summer rush is always better. It may feel like an extra cost to bear if your AC is new, but a preventive investment is always a smart move.

Tasks Included in AC Tune-Up Checklist

1. Check The Outdoor Refrigerant Lines
You can trust our tech team with your AC unit. We inspect the refrigerant lines for any signs of internal damage and fix them to prevent further leaking. We also look for other signs of damage, which helps increase the lifespan of your system.

2. Replace Air Filters
It is advised to change air filters every 1-2 months for a proper cooling experience. Our experts recommend changing them at least every three months (90 days). If you use plastic or fiberglass filters, consider changing them once a month. You may also want to change your filters depending on whether you have allergies or pets.

3. Inspect The Drain Line and Drain Pan –
Clogged drain lines can cause a mess, and we at Econo West Heating Air & Plumbing don’t want you to face unnecessary trouble. We are air conditioning contractors in Antelope Valley, providing your HVAC needs.

4. Lubricate Blower and Condenser Fans
Regular lubrication of the moving parts is recommended to eliminate friction, which causes stress to your system. Maintenance of the blower and condenser fans is critical to an efficient AC unit. A high-pitched sound coming from your fan indicates that it needs oil.

5. Inspect The Refrigerant Line Insulation
The refrigerant line will condense and leak if it is not insulated properly. Dripping water in the indoor unit can provide good places for mold to grow.

6. Check The Outdoor Unit Coil
Our tech team will look for damage and dirt on the outdoor unit. Check the compressor and maintenance of the fan.

7. Clean Components
Your condenser coil gets a deep clean, increasing overall efficiency and reducing your energy cost.

8. Inspection of Ductwork
It checks any loss of conditioned air.

9. Measure The Temperature Split
On average, the difference between the temperature maintained in your room and the air that blows out from the vents should be 15 degrees. Anything less can indicate a fault with the system, or you can suspect a leak.
