3 Common HVAC Issues You Should Be on the Lookout ForWith spring finally here, there are steps that can be taken to ensure that your HVAC system is in good shape for the warmer summer months. We know that it can be tempting to wait until there’s an issue to call for help, but remember that having your system checked and maintenance performed can help reduce the need for emergency repairs and can help your system last much longer.

Does everyone need to have their HVAC system serviced on a yearly basis? At Econo West Heating Air & Plumbing we do recommend it, yes. That said, we know that not everyone will. That’s why we’re here to offer our advice on three potentially serious issues that should prompt you to call us as soon as possible. You don’t need to be a professional to know that something’s wrong but if you do notice any of these three issues, you need a professional to safely handle it.

Strange Noises

If you hear any noise coming from your heating or cooling system that’s not part of the normal functions of your system, then you should be concerned. This can include all sorts of noises, including humming, banging, groaning, or rattling. If you’re not sure if the noises are coming from your HVAC system, turn it off for a few minutes and then turn it back on again. If the noises stopped when it was turned off and then started again when you turned it back on, then it was likely an issue with your HVAC system.

Air That’s Lukewarm

Whether you’re running your heating system or your cooling system, the temperature should be what you expect. If you find that the temperature of the air is actually lukewarm, then you’re likely dealing with a problem. You can have lukewarm air coming out of your system and still have a home that’s a comfortable temperature – it just means that your system will have to work much harder to get to the right temperature.

This not only puts undue stress on your system that could result in a shorter lifespan, but it means using up a lot of unnecessary energy. This could lead to higher utility bills on a monthly basis and having to get your system replaced much sooner than you should have to.

Your Airflow is Low

Most air conditioning systems in Southern California use ducts to move air throughout the home. If any part of that duct system has a clog, then the air can begin to move much slower. This can also happen if there’s an issue with the fan motor or even the fan blades – the air can move slowly. The results are the same as they would be with the lukewarm air we discussed above: Extra work and extra energy.

No matter if you’ve noticed an issue and need help right away, or you’re working to prevent issues with maintenance, Econo West Heating Air & Plumbing looks forward to working with you. Contact us today at (661) 947-2653 to learn more.
